Kia is about to hit the electric vehicle (EV) industry with another one of its popular models the EV9 but in a GT version. The company also promises that the EV9 GT will deliver “enormous power” that will set it apart from its EV9 in terms of performance. 

Through the massive success of Kia’s EV9, the popular EV model has elevated the company to further heights after being one of the biggest draws in its EV lineup by exceeding expectations for its Q1 2024 results. Now, with the GT version being set for a January 2025 release, this particular version of the Kia EV9 will have enhanced performance aspects that provide an exhilarating driving experience. 

Interestingly, Kia’s CEO Ho-Sung Song has teased that the EV9 GT will be projected to have acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds with its dual-motor setup and all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The specs of the EV9 GT were confirmed during Kia’s CEO Investor Day presentation earlier in the year but more was revealed from the recently fully released recording on its YouTube channel. 

Kia also covered that its updated EV6 is scheduled to launch in the EV market sometime during Q2 2024, whereas its EV6 GT will launch in early Q4 2024. Further releases from Kia’s EV lineup will come as it was confirmed that the company will launch six new mass EV models in major markets including its EV2, EV3, EV4, and EV5 from its first annual EV Day last October 2023. 

The strategy to adapt its Kia EV9 to a GT version is clever after winning the award for 2024 World Car of the Year and 2024 World Electric Car. With more releases being on the horizon for Kia, the acceleration to EV adoption is promising as the company is striving to achieve its goals for sustainability. As we wait for the release of the Kia EV9 GT in January 2025, Kia’s future EV lineups will be pushing the transition to electric mobility to define the EV industry.
